The Silent, Misty Mountain/Touching the Face of God.

On a sunny day, people from Anchorage and their visitors flock to Flattop Mountain for the beautiful vistas that stretch for hundreds of miles. Few come when it is shrouded in clouds, cool, and a little damp. Ah, but then the bright day visitors miss the hidden soul of the mountain when only those who come at these times, and not knowing for what they seek, find it. Perhaps a camera can poorly describe what words cannot tell at all. Perhaps on a day like this and a place like this, you will find a "thin place", reach out and touch the face of God.

A week or so later, I was back up on Flattop when the sun was out and took pictures without the clouds. Clear, warm and dry, there were many people there looking for the ordinary and completely missing the extraordinary, not realizing it could not be seen that day.
