This pond was purposefully left weeding to discourage fish theft, but the weeds suck up nutrients away from the phytoplankton the tilapia are counting on for food. Getting rid of the weeds and replacing them with dead branches allows the nutrients and light to get to the phytoplankton but still discourages stealing and predators.
