Penola, South Australia

Penola, in south east South Australia, a very pretty town is part of the stunning Limestone Coast which includes the Coonawarra wine region and the beautiful beaches of Beachport, Robe and Kingston. We chose Penola as our base to explore this region.

Penola was the home of Mary MacKillop, who through her work there as a pioneer of universal education, was eventually nominated as Australia's first saint, Saint Mary of the Cross. The area celebrates her and the Coonawarra world-famous wines.
