The Mallee, Victoria's north-west, is our 'outback', our dry country, a fascinating area to visit and explore.

"Early European settlers found the Mallee inhospitable. However, squatters began occupying land for sheep grazing in the 1840's and when selectors moved in and wheat growing became established in the 1880's and 90's. Large areas were cleared, railways were built to carry grain, and towns developed." - brochure

We have always found this area a wonderful place to visit and decided on another trip, following the ending of 2020 lock-down in our state. We spent two nights in Sea Lake, intending to see Lake Tyrrell, nearby. This ancient lake is Victoria's largest salt lake can be dry much of the year but at other times is covered by shallow water and is renowned for the beauty of reflected skies, pink tones, desert vegetation, animal and bird life.
