A town, surrounded by a sea of red sand, encircled by the MacDonnell Ranges and originaly opened up by 19th century pioneers, Alice Springs is now a modern outback town. It is also the home to places of cultural and spiritual significance for the Aboriginal Arrente people, much of their work seen in the many galleries and art centres around the town.
