Victoria's Great Ocean Road - February 2019

Considered one of the world's greatest coastal road trips, stretching, in its entirety, for 243 km from Torquay on the Surf Coast in Victoria to the Limestone Coast in South Australia, winding along a rugged coastline pounded by the Southern Ocean.

Many do this trip in sections, depending on the areas to be seen and time constraints. We have seen it all over many years and chose, this time, a short three day get away along the Surf Coast (Anglesea to Lorne in Victoria) through to the Otway Ranges. This section has tall timbers and stunning forests falling down steep slopes to the coast, the road winding between them and the ocean, to Apollo Bay. One could continue across Cape Otway with its iconic lighthouse, treetop walk and hidden coves towards Port Campbell and onwards along the Limestone Coast but on this occasion we stayed at Apollo Bay before returning home.

"Apollo Bay is the midway point on the Great Ocean Road - the perfect base for exploring the region. Get grounded in our laid back harbour village nestled between velvet green rolling hills and the moody seas of Bass Strait." Guide
