We stopped in at Barraterre with the hope of finding ice, gasoline and a few canned goods. While we met some extremely nice people, there were no provisions to be found. The owner of the local restaurant sold us two one gallon jugs of frozen water that he had in his freezer for emergency purposes. As has been our experience with many Bahamians, his generosity was profound. He insisted on giving us the ice for free because he was embarrassed not to have bag ice to sell us however Patrick won the debate and managed to pay him $10. By the time we left, he was making us promise to return soon to eat in his restaurant and remember to write to him upon returning to the States.
We've seen several waterspouts. However, by the time we are able to get a picture they have dispersed. The fourth pic to the right in the second column of this page shows the remains of a waterspout. You have to look closely, but it's there.
