These images show many of the 24 "Zo Selections" of deciduous azaleas. They are growing in full sun as a compact block of plants at the home of the late Zophar Warner, a nurseryman who lived near Trade TN. They are species and natural hybrids which he selected from many seedlings he had raised years ago. They are each quite different and quite beautiful, with excellent foliage.
While Zo had lived in Ohio, where he knew many of the azalea and rhodo "greats" before moving to Tennessee, he is known to have collected native azalea seed in the North Carolina and Tennessee mountains. These selections are similar in beauty and variety to the Gregory Bald natural hybrids.
J. Jackson has tagged and described each of the Zo selections and is caring for them , with help from neighbors and family. See more images at J. Jackson's picture site.
