New Zealand Christmas 2011 (Summer)

Christmas in New Zealand - means summer sun, beaches, swimming, boating, family bbq's, fun in the sun...

One of our native trees the Pohutakawa ( Metrosideros excelsa)
it flowers in Summer and over the Christmas period
and its called the New Zealand Christmas Tree...
today I was out taking photos of these trees..
they grow in my backyard on the cliff...
but these ones I photographed in Shakespear Regional Park, Whangaparaoa.
There is also the more rare YELLOW Pohutakawa (Metrosideros excelsa Aurea),
which I also photographed today.

Kia ora cousin! OMG.You haven't let up have you. You continue to flourish through the lens.Awesome galleries. I am celerbrating finally getting my first serious DSR... and one of my favourite pics to date is one of a pohutakawa flower.Will have to catch up and share.lol Glenda.
