Railfanning and SFRH&MS convention trip to AZ and CA 2011

A June 2011 trip combining railfanning and a trip to the Santa Fe Railway Historical&Modeling Society's national convention in Phoenix, AZ. Starting with the a trip on the Verde Canyon Railway, the convention kept me busy for four days. Then I headed up to the BNSF transcon at Flagstaff to start some serious railfanning, following the ex-Santa Fe main all the way to Bakersfield, CA. A quick drive got me to the bay area where I attended the BAPM (Bay Area Prototype Modelers' Meet) in Richmond. A fine NASCAR race in Sonoma and a trip over the Golden Gate bridge on the way to the airport concluded this 12-day tour. Not a single drop of rain, next to zero clouds but temperatures up to 122°F (50°C) at Siberia, CA accompanied my trip. Here's a selection of pictures:
