The official tall ship of New Jersey, the A.J. Meerwald is a traditional Delaware Bay oyster-dredging schooner. She was commandeered during World War II and put to work as a fireboat on the Delaware River. The ship underwent a complete, authentic restoration in 1995 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
