Remote-Controlled Astrophotography Observatory

San Diego, CA

Telestation 2 Observatory, 9'x9', by Pier Tech.
For a movie view from the opening side, click here:

Mods:
- 193" extended slide beams (Pier Tech)
- 1.5"x3.0" base (Pier Tech)
- Lower frame and levelers
- Water diverter (top flat roof section) and gutter on opening side
- Workstation and other niceties

Roof motor, mount, focuser, camera, and filter wheel are controlled by the
observatory computer, which is accessed remotely. AC power is controlled remotely
via Web Power Switch III's by Digital Loggers (16 total independent outlets).

Since you can't really keep critters out, I figured I'd let them come in and out, but never up.
All observatory levelers, tripod legs, and ground-based cables are wrapped in fly paper.
See next picture for a closeup.

This is probably a temporary location. Permanent location will be in the eastern high desert
of Southern California (sealed to a slab, different anti-critter strategy).
