At the stream next to Mendenhall Lake.
This is a school of Sockeye salmon. At spawning time, they swam feverishly against the current all the way up the stream. Their skin turned to a very pretty orangy red. Each was at least two feet long. As we watched them struggling upstream, and a lot got washed down the stream again, I was truely inspired by them -- to the point I demanded sockeye for dinner that night. :)
