The Chapter House. Completed in 1306, it is the historic meeting place of the Cathedral Chapter (The Cathedral's governing body). The Wells Chapter House is the only octagonal chapter house to be built as a first storey on top of an undercroft, which is the strong room of the Cathedral. A ribbed vault is supported on a central column which is surrounded by shafts of Purbeck Marble.
