selenite crystal

a most curious crystal

Superb! It is called selenite, crystals of calcium sulfate (or gypsum, or plaster, yes!) They have this curious way to grow in diformed shapes through a crystallization process called twinning http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selenite).
