Ed Talbott, III and Ed Talbott, Jr. placed new markers for Isaac Cole, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Thompson Cole. These new markers are located at the Oakvale Cemetery in Oakvale, Mercer County, West Virginia. The original fieldstone markers were left in place beside the new stones.

I joined the DAR under Robert Chambers. I am descended from his son, James Chambers, who married Elizabeth "Betsy" Cole. I also received an ancester pin for proving Joseph Workman was in the Rev. His g-g-grandson, James Workman, was married to Rebecca Chambers, who was the granddaughter of Isaac Cole.

I researched both Isaac Coles. The one who married Catherine Thompson was a friend and neighbor of Thomas Jefferson. He served in some governnent office under Jefferson. He married Catherine Thompson. Our Isaac was born in England and married Margaret Elizabeth Thompson. I believe her parents were John or James Thompson who married Catherine Walton. She died in Pittsylvanis Co VA 18 July 1848. Her parents were Jacob and Mary(Maria) Beckman Walton. This is what I found.

My ancester, Rebecca Chambers, married Janes Workman. Rebecca was the dau. of James Chambers and Elizabeth "Besty" Cole, who was the dau.of Isaac Cole and Catherine Thompson. I have copies of records, except for his Rev. War record I joined the DAR thru Robert Chambers. I am the dau of Don Perry, his mother was Rosa Pauley, her mother was Elizabeth Workman. I have a Jacob Cole b. 1767 who married Winneford Thompson b. Abt. 1770. I first find them in Franklin Co ga. How Winne's dad Joseph Thompson came from NC. His father was Benjamin Thompson. Jacob and Winnie lived in Hancock ga, Monroe Co ga, kershaw co sc, (monroe ga later became pike). Looking for father of Jacob. My grandfather and his father carried names Gus Hugh Cole and Joseph Augustus Cole. In Hancock land records found an Isaac Coe and Jacob Coe, may not be mine because also find Jacob Cole, Coles, Colles, and that is mine. Connection?

this is interresting. i have two thomspon coles. the one who married America was b. abt 1831. the other thomspon cole b. abt 1802 signed a statement along with Lewis payne that the marriage certificate between thomspon and amercia was destroyed by a fire. i have always wondered if these two were related. they both came from va. there is a generation age difference between the two. this is the first i heard of a isaac cole. does anybody have any more info on these two cole's? i have heard most coles' came from Pa to va to ky. it is strange for such a popular name yet i can not find many on the census.

WoW! Lucky to find this string of information on the Cole side. Allen T. Cole would be my g grandfather from his marriage to Ms. Pattitt. One of their children was Walter G. Cole, my grandfather from Beckley and my father was Walter Earl Cole. I have a document typed up by a Louis Albert Bowes Sr to his son Jr. dated between April 1918 and June 1919 outlining much of the Cole lineage from Issac downward and many of th Bowes whom I do not know. I was wondering if someone could help me put together Thompson Cole. Was there Two Thompson Cole's possibly father and son? I have one Thompson Cole born 1831 and another Thompson cole Born around 1789 or 1792. Which Thompson Cole married the Cherokee was it the one born in 1831? Was his father Isaac or the Thompson Cole born in 1789 or 1792? Which Thompson Cole had the daughter Elizabeth that married Milton White. That is how I am realted is through Elizabeth. I, too, am a relative. Augustus Cole was my great, great-grandfather. My great-grandfather was Allen Tobias Cole by his second wife, Margaret Perry. My grandmother was Irma Cole Knapp. I am Lynn Knapp Walters and am thrilled to find this site and see that you have restored the cemetary. I am still looking for information on when and where Allen Cole died. I know he and several brothers served in the 8th VA Cavalry during the Civil War, much to the chagrin of Augustus, who felt the whole affair was a waste of men and resources. I will have to find this Issac Cole website!

Thank you for your great work at the cemetery. I've been there several times but in June of 09 I was surprised and happy to see the new stone. I am also a 5th great grandson of Issac Cole through his son Augustus and his second wife Margurete Harman. I recently found a John Cole who lived in New York who is supposed to be the father of Issac. Do you know if this could be correct? I have a letter written by my G grandfather that gives a lot of names on the Cole family and would be happy to share with you.

Fantastic job. I am related to an Isaac Cole who married Sarah Easterbrook. Their son was Ichabod Cole, a Revolutionary War soldier. I joined DAR under Ichabod. He is buried in Rhode Island. Ichabod's son, Benjamin, settled in Belmont Co., Ohio around 1820. This line goes back to James Cole who landed in Plymouth around 1633. Could there be a connection to your line?
