The Asian elephant is a thick-skinned herbivorous mammal of the proboscidean order. It is found in S and SE Asia, from India and Nepal in the west to Borneo in the south. Asian elephants are the largest animal living in Asia. The Asian elephant lives in herds. It is related to the African elephant, but has smaller ears, wilder hair and shorter tusks. It is a social animal with a long-lasting memory and lives in herds that are "ruled" by an elderly female.(wikipedia)
