It is located 15 kms south of Wexford town. The windmill was built in 1846, and was used until 1936. This made it the last windmill in the Republic to work commercially, it was renovated in the 1950’s. Virtually all of the timber used in building this mill was from driftwood or timber from shipwrecks. A rare feature of this windmill is its revolving straw thatched cap roof to catch the wind for its sails.
