In about 1975, my 'at-the-time' inlaws bought us one of these - a Fiat 126 - in exactly that colour, although without the added luxury of a roof-rack!
We were using it to get to the airport for our delayed honeymoon in Ibiza, in 1978, when it broke down in the middle of nowhere - a failed fuel pump and we were stranded on a country road, somewhere near Luton as I remember.
The family stepped in and between them got it towed, fixed and ready for us to pick up on our way home. We never really trusted it again but there are still lots of them around, as your picture shows!
