I have become very fond of images that focus our attention on details of living things. Perhaps it's similar to the way black and white photos redirect us to appreciate shape and texture that may be missed in color shots.
This little glimpse of doe accentuates her vigilance---ear and eye trained away from her foraging to any hint of danger in the environment. The blurry tree narrows the field of view---just as the deer's vision emphasizes periphery over depth. The contstrained view also adds a note of tension, allowing the viewer to share her wariness. I like this shot very much.
