My uncle (Dick Lynch) flew this aircraft as SD-L, was killed over the Channel in another while this was down for maintenance. I am told he was one of the pilots sitting around while David Niven talked about the Spit's designer in the movie filmed during war-time "First Of The Few" (also later named "Spitfire").
I would be happy to hear from anyone who knew Dick (also known as "Dickie") and can give me some info about him - for instance, I can't find out where he trained without giving the RAF more than 50 UKP and going to great lengths to prove that I am related and entitled to the info.
I do know he was based at RAF Ibsley (perhaps also at RAF Middle Wallop) and one of his contemporaries sent me some more info, but much is lacking.
