Cape Royds is on the west side of Ross Island (upper left of map), to the north of McMurdo Station, and at the foot of Mt Erebus. It is home to an Adelie penguin colony that has had difficulty in recent years because of the mega-berg B-15 having indirectly required the penguins to walk too far to feed.
Cape Royd's is also the site of Shackleton's Nimrod hut, built/used from 1907-1909. Here's a good website about the hut with more photos: antarctica2000.net/gallery3/gallery3.html
