Thanks for visiting and your kind words on my Tibet photos, Steve.

According to the information that I read, the Lhasa Square (that is what you are seeing) and the Liberation Park (behind the Lhasa Square & not shown in this photo) were only built in 2001. I guess the area before the Potala must be really different 11 years ago.

Never saw the Potala like this when I was there. It was about 11yrs ago so I think they make it more of an attraction now.
