Hmmm! At the shelf right next to the red & white Wix boxes at left, note the flattening of
light though and of even distance in the items. Natural light hitting them shows actual
coloring of both.
Flash turns everything into a kind of plasticized-brown-grey... but you're right that there's
a (harsher) reality to this. I think the reflected light on all the items bothers me, I actually
had to select and tone down the main flash reflection at left-middle.
Au contraire! Actually, the flash effect is not hideous. I think it makes the scene more interesting with the contrast of bright spots and shadows. This is a more moody reality shot than the ones that have the uniformly lit effect of your slow shutter/no flash ones.
