Special front-lit technology developed by Oy Modilis, a company founded in Helsinki,
which has many patents in this area and was acquired by Amazon in late 2010.  They've been
working on refining and fine-tuning for contrast, clarity, and even-distribution of light
across the reading surface.

The led lights are on a layer above the display, so there were a number of challenges to be met.
