This is another gallery from Cambodia. ANCKOR World Heritage has "Outstanding Universal Value" of a unique set of Art, Archeology and History. This Jewel of the Khmer Civilization is "protected for the benefit of all humanity". Siem Reap is a small city (with many hotels and pubs) which serves as the gateway to the Angkor Temples, the millennium old ruins from the Khmer Empire. Angkor Archaeological Park includes dosens of temples, scattered across vast forests. The archeological significance of this site is without doubt putting it in the group of the Great Pyramids and Machu Pichu. One of those - 'must see' things. The ancient city of Angkor (which literally means Capital or Holy City) served a dynasty of Khmer kings who ruled from 9th to 15th century one of the largest, most prosperous kingdoms in the history of South Easth Asia. At its high the capital contained more than a million people, and the Khmer Empire covered a vast area - including Cambodia and large parts of Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. We watched the sunset from the Phnom Bakheng and met the down at the Angkor Wat temple, then for two and a half hot days we managed to visit six temples which are either of Hindu or Buddhist style.
Featured Temples - Angkor Wat, Phnom Bakheng, Elephant Terrace, Baphoun and the Royal Enclosure, Terrace of the Leper King. (hope I got the names right)
