Fraser and Humpy Island, Queensland, Australia
Two National Parks, two totally different destinations.
Fraser is the largest sand island, very well known worldwide tourist attraction. Very nice but overcommercialised and overcrowded – IMO.
Humpy is ‘the best kept secret’, with a perfect beach for kids and swimming. You can do snorkelling, spearfishing or enjoy corals. Humpy has shower/toilet facility (no electricity) and you have privacy - max of 60 tourists are allowed to camp at any time, and at certain times of the year you could be even alone. This is my tribute to Humpy Island for ‘slowing down the time’, for me and giving me my most relaxed and enjoyable holiday. All this for $4 a day.
