A butterfly is not alive,
Unless the wings are filled with breath,
And a blush of hidden sunlight
Is melting through the mist.
A butterfly is merely a faded ghost,
Without the scent of honey
Teasing upon her lips.
Will she dress herself
With summer,
And flutter softly by,
That I may catch her gentle lilt
And answer with a sigh.
