The Old and the New

Both ships were/are used for transporting passengers.
The Star of India built in 1863 transported emigrants from England to New Zealand. She could take up to 265 passengers and 40 crew and the sailing time took 100-143 days.
The Eurodam built in 2008 can accommodate 2,104 passengers and 929 crew and can do the same journey in 24 days.

Interesting to see how they retained the principal colours over the centuries. Have to admit that I prefer the old ships, the new ones look like cramped apartment blocks! Great angle! ~V~

judiciously juxtaposed...Star of India definitely the more romantic option, and not so crowded, yet four or so months at sea seems quite the ordeal..
