Flowers of Death
In front of the Barra Saloon, a varied display of flowers, succulents and trees, few of which are native to this area.
The two long snake like stalks, laden with yellow blossoms are flowering Maguey Plants also known as American Aloe.
They can reach a total height of up to 25–30 ft (8–9 m) tall, and are a signal that the plant is at the end of its life.
As the stalk dries, the plant dies. We saw many bees in the flowers and judging from the number of magueys in the area, life goes on.
