Castle Well Schlitz

In order to withstand sieges, castles had to have a reliable and plentiful supply of water.
This well was probably dug in the 13th Century, though the top with the roof seems to date from the 17th-18th Century.
Though no longer needed, it still contains water.

Marvelous piece of history and I'm sure it still works as well today as it did hundreds of years ago. V.
