Spunky, refreshing, enigmatic, coquettish all describe Pei Pei. One of the last warm and sunny days of summer found us exiting the same subway station and striking up a conversation and sharing lunch on a day she proclaimed her birthday. Whether or not that was true, the gift rather seemed to belong to me, for the opportunity to photograph Pei Pei in a number of settings around downtown DC, including the National Building Museum, MCI Center and Chinatown, most fittingly.
