While our elders napped during the after lunch mezzogiorno, the 30-something D'Alessandro fratelli screamed up the highway from Spinazzola to visit the handsome hilltop town of Minervino Murge that we had passed on the way in. Mark and I spent a restful couple of hours walking the old cobblestone streets high up in the hills, enjoying gelato, a cool summer breeze and the centuries old spirits swirling around due paesani come back to pay respects. I'm sure some of our ancestors ran around these still very lively streets in centuries gone by.
