Aizu Wakamatsu is an old castle town, fought over, and exchanging ownership, by various Japanese samurai clans several times in the span of 300 years. Now a handswome, quiet little mid-sized city north of Tokyo, its chief economic driver is tourism to the site of the grand castle and gardens that had attracted combatants centuries ago.
