A BUNCTON CHAPEL 1145

West Sussex

WINNER : CHURCHES,CHAPELS & CATHEDRALS UK GALLERY

All Saints......a tiny chapel, serving a hamlet of a farm and a few houses, near Wiston. Designated as a 'chapel-of-ease', it was not allowed a font, steeple or, originally a bell...although a small belltower was eventually permitted. Reached only by a footpath through a wooded dell and surrounded by fields, a service is held there monthly.
Built in 1150, although there are records of a previous church on site from 791 AD.

Voted. This would be great as art. It is very well lit and composed. Nice job on it.

What a delightful little chapel you have here Ann. Im a great lover of churches and their graveyards. I imagine that many grave stones in this graveyard are really old, especially with the chapel dating fro 1150! Beautiful setting. Perfect. Big V!
