Wineham & Shermanbury are very small villages who share a boundary but they are not joined directly by road, only by foot & bridle paths. To go by road between the two is a detour of several miles by road. This tiny remote cemetery likewise cannot be reached by road from Shermanbury. It was created in 1888 as an overflow burial ground for Shermanbury Church but is actually near the end of a quiet narrow lane in Wineham. It is a beautiful tranquil spot and in spring it is thickly carpeted with primroses.
