The 'New' Church in the Market Place.
Originally built in 1396, the tower was finally completed exactly one hundred years later in 1496, but less than fifty years afterwards, in 1536, it was struck by lightning and part of it burnt down. It was replaced by a low steeple which was also damaged by lightning in 1872. The present steeple was then built to a height of 109 metres, making it the second highest in Holland.
