A Sonnet from Bali

I loved your light that struck the subtle night
I loved your lines the silhouettes did carve
Against that soft sentimental moonlight
A trance, a dance, that mesmerizing curve

Delights the seeing child, who wanders far
To find a joy beyond these simple lines
A quiet, glinting hope to discover
The trance, the dance, that muse you redefined

A stamp of feet, a mask, a pounding chant
Dusty stories, a search, a rhythmic street
A place for silence and a space for chance
The trance, the dance that only you can beat.

I loved your smiles and light and lonely stars
Each a wish to return, my Bali fair.

I organized a photo safari to Bali with Manny Librodo,
and it was attended by Suwanee Lennon, Dr. Banhup Teh, Leslie Goodman, John Goodman, and Joe Dannels.
We sought the light and found much, much more than images.
We found the delightful, beautiful and graceful charm of Bali.
