Queima das Fitas (Burning of the Ribbons), a historic student festival featuring the Cortejo Académico parade.
Students wear traditional black suits (traje académico) paired with colorful top hats and canes representing their faculty -
such as yellow for Medicine, light blue for Humanities, red for Law, and orange for Psychology.

Students share a celebratory hug immediately after completing the traditional three-tap hat ritual.
