Plato is best known for his influential work, The Republic, his Theory of Forms, and for founding The Academy, which is considered the first university in the Western world. Through his Socratic dialogues, Plato explored justice, ethics, political theory, and metaphysics, famously using the Allegory of the Cave to illustrate his ideas about reality and knowledge.
