In Greek mythology, Gaia (or Gaea) is the primordial goddess personifying the Earth, the "Mother Earth," emerging from Chaos to become the parent of almost all life, including the Titans, Cyclopes, and Giants, after mating with Ouranos (Sky) and Pontus (Sea). She is a powerful force, instrumental in overthrowing her husband Ouranos and later helping Zeus defeat her son Cronus, but also opposing Zeus by birthing monsters like Typhon; her Roman equivalent is Terra.
