Occupied North Cyprus

These are galleries relating to "North Cyprus", the part of Cyprus that has been occupied by Turkey since July 1974. There is an emphasis on Famagusta and the modern town of Varosha, the town that I was born and lived in until 14th August 1974 when the second wave of the Turkish invasion forced us to flee from our homes.

Pete Barlow do you have a description of where abouts your wife lived directions and buildings would be good and hotel names as reference points would be good

It was good to see your photos - I did travel to Cyprus last February and my relatives drove me to Komi Kebir and around parts of Famagusta but we were only there for a few hours.

Fantastic collection of fotos and images! Yes its such a shame that it is left alone (ish)
I have searched and searched for a map (I may have found one in a library in Australia!
Why did the fotos from the air not go a little further south, where my wife lived!

Wonderful photos.. of course Cyprus is one for all cypriots! I'm going to Cyprus soon and will visit my families house and land in Tricomo if it still exists... I look for forward to making friends ALL OVER the island :)

Recetly visited cyprus, and was hoffified by what the turks had done. i wanted a glimpse of cyprus before and after 1974. thank you.

What memories you invoke. I lived on Apostalos Andreas in part of the doctors house from August 1970 to March 1971. Anyone got a street map?
