On 25 April 2008 I shared the Anzac Day commemoration with the people of Theodore in Central Queensland. This is a new gallery into which I will upload my study of how the people of Theodore remembered the sacrifices of those who served in war.
Anzac Day is commemorated each year in Australia. Originally the day recalled the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps from the days of the First World War.
Anzac Day in Theodore commenced with the Dawn Service at 6.00am followed by a march through the town at 10.00am and civic ceremony in the park around the cenotaph. The first part of this gallery is of the Dawn Service with the photographs of the march/service following on. I will add images to the end of this gallery.
Some of these images will mean a lot to the people who participated with a sense of civic duty. For those far away from Theodore use this gallery to get an insight into the way one community lives.
Since creating this gallery, Theodore has suffered devastating floods. In January 2011 the town was completely inundated resulting in all residents being evacuated. My sympathies for the residents of Theodore. My images may be a reminder of how the town may again look. Good luck to the citizens of Theodore as they commence the sad process of returning to their homes and rebuilding their town and lives.
