The rest of the "skate warrior"

(this photo was taken a bit to demystify the notion
that one cannot really center a subject in a photo...
I believe that there are no fixed rules in photography)

Back to add:
When a bridge becomes a ship, that's Portugal, that's saudade...

I agree with others, Ana, this is a very beautiful composition. This is also an original composition. Love the shadows. Love the hint of a boat (?) on the right side. And this figure, lit by the sun.

Very beautiful in its B&W simplicity. John

As usual, Adal has got the essential at first sight...

As long as you know why are you breaking the rules!
Chris24-May-2006 00:14
Bump the rules, Ana :) Although, I think the elements in the foreground really make the shot more than the choice of subject placement. Good stuff all around.

I certainly agree with all of the comments here so far, Ana. I have always advised my students to forget every rule they ever "learned," and think instead of the purpose of an image before composing it.

I like, very much, this photo, you did prove my point, rules are goods for nothing.
Abraço,

Agree with Kal... -- works perfectly!

Gostei!

He is so lonely..I must be very new at this for I believed that other than techiques in photography everything else is sentiment..I would love this photo either way..Full of emotion..

Very nice composition Ana. There are fixed rules in photography but rules are made to be broken.

The only rules are those set by the vision of the photographer and the the geometry of the elements...and both of these are too infinitely complex for rules ;-)) The leaves make it for me. K

Yes, I agree with Sammy, you have the talent to brake the rules very well, Ana. Like the picture too!

Superb composition, and tones Ana! Totally agree with you, in photography rules
are for fools! But it takes a real talent, such as yourself, to break them well :-)
