Simply stated, "I love U2".
Or better "I love U2 albums from 1981 to 1991".

IMHO the last good album was "Rattle and Hum", even if cannot barely be compared to the masterpieces like "Joshua Tree" or "Unforgettable Fire".

OK, OK, I can hear you: too much Brian Eno in "Unforgettable Fire", but guys, the live performances (with much less electronic) were leaving us breathless.

I had tears in my eyes while Bono was singing "Ice, your only rivers runs cold, the city lights..." or "If I could, Yes I would, if I could, I would let it go, Surrender, dislocate...".
He was capable to put so much emotion in the live execution of those songs, while The Edge was producing razor sharp chords with his Gibson Explorer in "Pride" or " In God's Country"...

Agree, also "War" is a masterpiece, even if the sound of the band is a little bit manipulated by the producer, Steve Lilliwhite: during the same year he produced also Big Country and Simple Minds, and you could spot Steve brand out of those sounds, rather the essence of the band.
In any case songs like "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "New Years Day", " Two Hearts Beat As One", "Refugee" or "40" do really change your DNA!
