The sound is one of the rainiest spots in New Zealand (and anywhere else, for that matter), and
everyone tells you to expect rain and to enjoy the dozens of waterfalls that cascade down the
mountains when it rains. We had one of the fairly rare non-rainy days (in fact it was reported
to be the fifth in a row - a real rarity), and thought there were still plenty of waterfalls. We
also enjoyed being able to see the mountains and the fjord.
