My father's camera (3)

The camera appears to be an Icarette Model A, dating from the early 1920s. There's information
on Ica AG on http://www.vintagephoto.tv. The firm was located in Dresden,
Germany. In 1926 it merged with several other firms to form Zeiss-Ikon.

Nikon D70

I very much enjoyed your family's photos. My father also came from Czernowitz and was born in 1906. They could have possibly known each other. Even though our family is catholic, my father spoke perfect yiddish. He visited us in the States and I took him to a jewish butcher in the farmers market and when my father started to talk to the man, he cried because his own (jewish) children did not speak at all and this "goy" my father, spoke it beautifully with all the right intonations. My parents divorced and my mother and I came to the US over 50 years ago. This truly is home and God bless this country for taking us all in.
As a side comment, one of our son in laws is jewish and it was our daughters wish to marry in a total jewish ceremony. We never said one word of discuragement. She loved him, we loved him. We have become great friends with his family and we love each others children. We very much respect each other's religion.
You and your sister were both adorable children and are very lucky to have all those wonderful photos of your parents from years back. They also were a very handsome couple and I am so sorry that your grandparents on both sides died in horrible circumstances.
Best wishes and regards,
Liz Schmidt (nee Jarmolowicz)

Wow! What a beautiful tribute to your father! I loved the fact that you ended with the photos of his camera. My family considers my camera a part of the family because when we go places or have special events, my trusty 35m is right there to capture the moment. Even though it would be so much easier to switch to a digital, I think it would be disloyal to retire my "old friend!"
