We stopped on Mackinac Island on a driving trip to Montreal and the Laurentian Mountains to visit some Canadian cousins, our summer vacation that year. This picture, taken in front of the Grand Hotel (which still looks pretty much the same) is, unfortunately, faded beyond my ability to restore it. Judy is licking her lips; my belt is just about up to my armpits; and my mother is looking off into the distance. Otherwise, it’s a great shot.
