There were many cruises across Lake Michigan from Chicago in the 1940s. We may have taken one to Benton Harbor or St. Joseph, Michigan. My sister was born in August 1946, so we probably took this short vacation in June or early July. This shot is somewhat reminiscent of the picture (above) of my parents aboard the Orduņa, taken about eight years earlier under rather different circumstances. Before my father got a car in 1948, we took several vacations at resorts in Wisconsin and southern Michigan.
