However, finding Bramble Cay is not easy because one can only see it a few miles away and if has been raining heavily in the mountains of New Guinea, there will be a strong current coming out of the Fly River pushing us as much a 30 miles to the south. But, if it has been dry in the mountains and the trades have been blowing strong, there could be a north flowing current. On top of that if you miss Bramble Cay there are submerged reefs a few miles to the south and shallow reefs just to the north. So it is imperative that ones navigation be spot on.
